Queer Faces Migrant Voices (2017-2020)
About: “The world becomes awfully quiet without freedom of speech. More and more voices nowadays are being silenced due to self-censorship, legislation, and most of all fear and intimidation”. In that notion, we present “Queer Faces Migrant Voices “ a radio and photography project that focuses on sharing the stories of those who are currently being portrayed and perceived as “enemies” and giving a voice to young queer migrants and refugees who recently came to The Netherlands and Germany. With this project, we drew attention to the LGBTIQ+ migrants and their life stories in the Dutch and German contexts.
Our role: Design the project along with German partners, conduct the podcast training for Dutch & German participants, and organize presentations during several film festivals and local radio shows in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Nuremberg.
Partners: This project is a Dutch-German collaboration between Stichting art.1 Amsterdam and Kijufi Berlin and funded by Fonds voor Cultuurparticipatie / Fonds Soziokultur, BJA-COW and AMVJ Fonds.
